just watching the new series and i am just thinking how good it would be to have a best mate you could share lots of good things together other then your wife, you cant laugh and swear like a good un with your wife but you could with you mate, you could egg each other on and just laugh together, i miss my old mates, then again they left me, i must have been a right pain to them then :icon_lol:, i have a great mate now but with work and the distance between us, well hay ho , just goes to show sometimes we need that other special person

That makes a lot of sense to me Steve.
In a way I had that kind of relationship with my brother.
All of my other real close childhood pals have now departed.
I've always felt that childhood friends are the ones that you really know inside out and can really trust.
I'll be honest and admit I miss those kind of friends and those kind of times.

I'm lucky enough to communicate on facebook almost daily with a mate who I've been 'knocking around with' since we were 17, and we sometimes go off together to classic car meets etc.
Same old teenage banter too, and so many shared memories and old friends.

I miss my old friends too, some I have lost contact with and a few I stupidly fell out with, never to be seen again. It doesn't help when you move around the country though.
