Lee Aldhouse is escorted to court from prison in a bus

A British kickboxer could face the death penalty in Thailand after being charged with murdering an American soldier at a popular holiday resort.

He was flown to Thailand from the UK earlier this month in the first-ever extradition of a criminal suspect from Britain to Thailand.

Hang on a second.. The British gov extradite a British citizen to a country that has the death penalty?
Doesnt sound correct to me..

Definitely!!
That said,I doubt he will get the death penalty as the Thai`s must have done some type of deal to get the Brits to extradite him.. Never heard of!Its definitely a first..
He sounds like a right nasty piece of work but still innocent until proven guilty..
The problem I have with this is the UK Government know full well what the justice system is like in certain Asian countries and they are now willing to surrender Brits to their mercy..
There is a British guy that had to get out of the Philippines quick as he was accused of killing the youngster Ellah Joy in Cebu..
He left his wife here to face the music alone... Most of us here are convinced that they are both innocent as the Police and justice system here just want to put someone (anyone) away for that terrible crime.. If the Brits forced him back then that would be another tragedy.
R.I.P Ellah.

If I were in his shoes I wouldnt have left the wife, pretty crappy thing to do when there are ways to exit without leaving an official footprint BUT pinyas just LOVE to get a foreigner for any crime however miniscule and punish them to the full extent of their flexible laws, class ic example Kevin and Charlene still festering away and I remember a good number of years ago two cases where westerners had pinay partners with kids from pinoys,in both cases the fathers of the kids had the westerners arrested for jimmy savile'ing their children, both fathers wanted money, neither case sounded credible :NoNo:

Reading about Aldhouse and you get the impression that he is a thoroughly nasty piece of work. He's a kick boxer so why somebody with his abilities would need to use a knife makes it even nastier. As the victim was killed in front of his girlfriend, I would imagine the evidence is pretty good and so I agree with sending him back to face the music.

Yes it does happen but saying filipino's love to get a foreigner for any crime is a bit of a general statement.
Have noticed when a Brit or another expat gets arrested then some of expat community comes out in there defense even when they don't know the real facts.
There are many foreigners past and present in Philippines that have managed to buy themselves out of situations that they should be in jail for.

Your partly right Jake,it was a generalisation, but having family in law-enforcement,one or two are at a quite high level,I can appreciate how flimsy evidence sometimes is in pinas that gets a person nicked, its not exactly CSI manila, and I also appreciate that yup, people buy themselves out, thats why I said "Flexible" laws,I have had a few friends in nick in pinas, once for drunk and disorderly where he was kept in for 10 days, threatened with a pistol, and had his KFC his wife took in for him nicked by the guards :icon_lol: And there was a bit of a witch-hunt a number of years ago against foreign gary glitter types where if my memory serves, dont quote me on this but I am 90% certain some politician was offering cash to "compensate" the childs family for the damages and wrongdoings of the foreigner, that was certainly going to get some poor innocent schmuck arrested :icon_rolleyes:

That's true evidence can be very flimsy here and it sometimes works for and against foreigners :cwm25:

Sounds fair enough, if the case was proven.
