Best way is to take a week looking around 'on the ground', but once they see your poriner face, room for negotiation will disappear out the window.

that guy geoff on the other forum is the best person to ask about rentals he covers bohol but hes at the top end of the market but he may give you a lead if he has nothing in your budget ,but like graham says they,re places around you need to get em to ask around the locals coz once they see you there then the games over lol

Last time I rented a house in the Phils, I got my mate's wife (cousin of the ex) to find us a place. They just sent us photos and details of it, then I sent them the money for the deposit and advance rent.

Job done and we had somewhere to move into more or less straight off the plane, because they also arranged for services to be re-connected etc...for a small fee.

Only 100 yards from their place too, which was nice.

Yes, lots of lovely memories of being part of a happy family.

My boy is here with me now though, and I exchanged New Years greetings with my lovely step-kids yesterday. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Don't know what became of the decorations, but we had 3 great Xmases at that house.

This place is offered online for 18k a month.. Boots on the ground should get you something similar for any thing between 8 and 12 k..
In 6 years could well be 18 K though..
Be sure and ask if its furnished or not!!

There are some Filipino houses for rent in the 5k monthly range.. Bloody cheap IMO!
