I think Ronnie Corbett, Ronnie Barker and Griff Rhys-Jones are the most talented.
Much better than some of these stand up comedians such as Michael McIntyre, Billy Connolly and Peter Kay.

It depends if you're talking about comedy characters or comedians.
Another poster mentioned Mr Bean, which is funny, but i think Rowan Atkinson was brilliant as Edmund Blackadder. In fact, that series has got so many great characters, including Baldrick, General Melchett, Lord Flasheart and, IMHO Hugh Laurie's greatest ever character, Prince George. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
As for stand up comedians, I like Dara O'Briain, Russell Howard, Andy Parsons and the types that are often on Mock The Week.

Does anyone remember Bob Newheart, (Driving Instructer)?

My favorite of favorites is Ricky Gervais...
I didnt even bother watching the Golden globes this year as he didnt host it..
I just love the way he can take the piss out of Hollywood stars in their own back yard and they still clap him!!!

Too many for me to come up with a favourite but the one I most loath (that is if he can even be classed as a comedian) is Russell Brand.

Totally agree he is a genius, along with his sidekicks Karl Pilkington and Steve Merchant. He is not scared to take piss, not bothered about pc and The Office, Extras and Idiot abroad inspired.

How about Arthur Haynes, Charlie Drake, The Marx Brothers, Eric Sykes and of course Spike Milligan, Eric Sykes.....but thanks to graham for reminding me about Richard Hearne aka Mr Pastry.
But one person who really made me laugh was Rod hull and Emu attacking I think it was Michael Parkinson .http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqrg_VCPgAQ

There's so many good one around. Jack Dee was my first favourite comedian, but in my view the best comedian of all time would be Lee Evans. The guy is a genius!
More recently Rhod Gilbert, Jack Whitehall (both of which Ruby pisses herself while watching, so there's the translation into the Philippines!) Michael McIntyre are the ones I watch the most of at the moment. A bit naughty, but anyone ever heard of Kevin 'Bloody' Wilson? The man is a legend!
