Im sure I heard Cameron say in his last commons speech that a referendum should happen in the next couple of years. Is that right?:Erm:
In my reckoning..That`ll be too late then!

Certainly from an immigration point of view...I'd agree. The damage is already done. :doh
Plus, the Tories have to fight and win another election first.
I can see where this is going to go. NOWHERE !
Besides which, too many people in this country now brainwashed into acceptance of the EU and never known anything different. Then there are all the millions of immigrants who will by then probably have the vote. Pretty obvious what their opinion will be.:NoNo:
Enjoy being where you are Fred, because you're certainly missing nowt here, apart from witnessing the sinking of HMS 'Great' Britain, and perhaps any benefits you'd have under the NHS, while that still survives.

hahaha...i agree! its really seedy but the book "Brighton Rock" grahame Green never helped its image. There is also a very high student population, large gay community and frequented by the "alternative" elements of society. Only an hour from where i live but tend to avoid going there.

Never been to Brighton ... but, from all accounts here, so far, I haven't really missed anything, :NoNo: - since there would APPEAR to be nothing "bright on" the horizon about the place! :icon_rolleyes:

And not forgetting the hoards of tattooed Cockney sluts in the summer!

You will not get a referendum now. No chance. Cameron wants to stay in the EU. Its all spin. Dont believe what he says. All he can say is that he is clearing up the mess that labour left. To me that is a very weak excuse. He has done nothing but get the country into deeper trouble. I know one thing he could do. Stop child benefit payments to all EU couples (excluding british of course) that would save a fortune and deter them from coming here.

Something to maybe think about -
Politicians in the end, are probably no more stupid than the rest of us. What they do have (And most of us lack) is a deep belief in what THEY think is right, and sod everyone else's opinion, along with high motivation to do something about it.
Or put another way, if everyone else had the same motivation, then you can be sure robbers would be whipped in the street, fuel would be cheap, old people would be looked after first, taxes would be moderate and fair - paid for by taking away aid to toilet states and the feckless and there would be NO haters in society - they'd be on the first plane back to whatever country would want them. In other words, the minority views imposed by politicians wouldn't get a look-in.
I digress though. The point is that politicians are not stupid. Nearly all of them however seem to support the EU.
This can only mean two things -
Either they secretly hope for a nice backhander and a cushy job in the EU upon their retirement from politics
or
They know something most of the country doesn't, and know that leaving the EU would cause untold damage to the country
I haven't a clue

neither have they or anyone else
but it looks like the EU will become one federal state of Germany, they control the strings. whats the point of a British Elected government if the EU is making laws which over rule our own :doh

:xxgrinning--00xx3: I agree. Not a chance of us getting a referendum off the Tories. It's all spin, he's trying to stem the loss of voters to UKIP. He could of course stem the tide completely by giving us a referendum in this parliament, but he wont do that because he's scared we're going to ditch the EU.

High motivation to line one's own pocket and massage one's ego more like. Proof is in the other thread where they claim to be 32% short changed.
