Hi Shinx. I applied my fiance visa in Dubai on 10 June 2012. I was holding a UAE residence visa. I used VFS Dubai located at Wafi City Mall. There is also one in Abu Dhabi.

No worries she can still apply in Dubai even you're in the UK. However, it's better if you can fly and accompany her on the day of the application.

Never heard about CESOL or maybe what you meant is Cambridge ESOL. Anyway, i forgot to mention the English Requirement. I did take IELTS at the British Council in Oud Metha. Book her test as early as possible, General Test is not frequently offered.
Good luck on the application:smile:

Hi Joe.
VFS Dubai/Abu Dhabi would allow him to come in. Trefor was seating beside me when i submitted my application and he even answered some of the questions raised by VFS Rep. Also, when I did the biometrics he's just a meter away.

:gp: there, Rose. There's long been a bone of contention on this forum as to whether sponsoring partners are permitted to accompany visa applicants inside the British Embassy building in Manila. Now ... whereas I've consistently maintained they ARE - based on the fact that I WAS when Myrna applied for hers back in January 2009 - others say theirs WEREN'T and had been told to remain outside ... thus leaving me wondering whether the decision depended on the "mood" of the security guards on
duty at the entrance. :doh

but still a bit confused if Jessamy's work permit would allow her to be processed in the UAE as I myself am not a UAE resident...

If say, partners do happen to go along, I feel it's IMPORTANT they're allowed inside ... for the sake of providing applicants with much-needed moral support at a particularly stressful time for the parties involved. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

My husband (boyfriend status that time) is also a UK resident, as in working and living in the UK. He has no UAE residence permit. And because UAE visit visa is free for British he used to visit me on weekends, flight to Dubai on Friday after his work and return to UK on Sunday evening.

I do agree with you Arthur. In addition, its another indication that the relationship is possibly genuine.

 I do agree with you again Arthur. Other considerations are the size of the room, the number of applicants already in, and the verbal behavior approach of the couple.

and not many of us Brits are residents of the Philippines but we applied for a spouse or fiancee visa at the British embassy in manila because that was the closest British embassy to where our partner was a resident and your partner lives in UAE

Thankyou for that clarification so sorry if I had misunderstood your good info. I was just in Al-Ain (where Jessamy works) for 4 days via Abu Dhabi and had a great time. Looking forward to returning.

No need to apologize Shinx, I understand where you're coming from. Its always good to raise question than assume. Also, this forum is very helpful so if there's any information you still need, don't hesitate to ask.

Shinx, have you reviewed the UKBA requirements for the visa?
Can you comply with the Financial Requirement for example ?

Yes have reviewed it my salary is more than the minimum required and soon will have 6 months payslips. I am not sure about how any savings are calculated and or when required perhaps calculated by salary. We have 2 years contact one meeting and getting my own apartment for 2 very soon...

Good.
Only savings over £16,000 can be counted towards any shortfall in required income. There is a calculation for it.
Be sure that EACH one of the 6 monthly payslips meets the minimum, otherwise consider category B
Good luck
