:NoNo: everyone should have the right to protest peacefully.

A SINGAPORE court has jailed four Chinese immigrant bus drivers for to up to seven weeks for instigating the city-state’s first strike in 26 years.

Judge See Kee Oon said the sentences needed to be long enough "to ensure that others are not emboldened toward attempting similar displays of dissatisfaction over employment terms or conditions."

Maggie Thatcher style industrial relations.
Apparently 171 Chinese drivers were being paid a quarter less than their colleagues, so you can understand their frustrations.

They knew the wage rates when they took the jobs on. They are temporary immigrant workers, once their out of jail I'd expect the authorities will deport them. They won't have any problem hiring replacements

Tough they're temporary foreign labour they took the job on the basis of the info they were given - this country should consider the temporary immigration route to address labour shortages

The thing is Ded it was over them being discriminated against at the expense of Malaysian drivers. Have a read it all seems a bit strange. Personally I think Bob Crow is needed over there pronto.
