Guess they still allow that sort of thing over there, wouldn't be surprised. It isn't so long ago that we had similar sorts of things here.

A defiant Beijing restaurant manager refused to apologise on Thursday despite removing a “racist” sign barring citizens of states in maritime disputes with China, along with dogs, following an international outcry.
The notice in the window of the Beijing Snacks restaurant read: “This shop does not receive the Japanese, the Philippines, the Vietnamese and dog(s)” in both Chinese and English.

^^^^ What she said.
This idiot is just turning customers away. First rule of a service business - their very existence is dependent on customers. Complete and utter plank he is

It's again a belief of whats in the media, the chinese are being convinced by their own propoganda and sensationalist media to turn against the Philippines, Japanese and Vietnam and whoever else isn't doing what the chinese government wants.
However, China is our future...

china is our future, only if we keep buying from them and dont make the products in the UK, cost will rise in china and companies will go to other places where costs are even cheaper.

Not so sure about that Joe, China is getting stronger and industry is expanding here. I am in the thick of it and can see first hand what they are doing. Quality may not be great and westerners have to work to keep standards up, but believe me, the standards here will be better than the rubbish that will come out of India in the near future.
But as for the restaurant thing, they really don't worry about losing customers from outside China, they are a tiny tiny spec in the ocean (quite literally) for the Chinese. It is actually quite interesting when talking to some of them about their views on the 'west'. They are very much swayed but propaganda, but I think the younger generations are a little bit more aware and ready to integrate with the world, but the older generations still slow the wheels.

Oh yeah, Joe you are right, I was offered a contract in Vietnam, might go there still, but getting these places running up to standards are the main concerns. Now I see what I have to put up with on a daily basis here in China, I cant imagine starting up in a new place.
