Can someone share their experience of taking the CFO seminar in Manila please. I read from the CFO website that there are only 15 slots per day. We are only going to get one chance on a Tuesday so we need to know what's the best time to arrive to get in line and how busy is it. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

The most common advice is to arrive as early as possible.
Your best approach is to phone CFO to receive the most accurate and updated information. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Make sure that when getting your CFO sticker, visa is already valid (the start date of your visa). They would only put the sticker on a valid visa. If not, they can only give the certificate and you have to return to get the sticker.

wayback 2010 , if you are a british spouse you will have a one on one interview...questions like where in england will you live?...about your marriage contract ......HIS mothers maiden name??..whats the job of your husband?? how long have you been together?? do you know about the ''domestic violence law?..etc
I went to CFO the same day i submitted my spouse visa, and i got the certificate .... came back for the sticker after i got my valid visa...
please check every details once you get hold of your certificate , some applicants got a problem because of typographical errors.
good luck

Piece of advice.

Remember that the person asking you the questions, has no idea what the truthful reply is, so you can just make it up as you go if you don’t know the answer.

I am sure the interviewer will know if you are making up your answers :Erm:
why make it up??? why not give a genuine answer??? it is for the benefit of the applicant to know travel regulations, immigration procedures, cultural differences, settlement concerns, employment and social security concerns and rights and obligations of Filipino migrants.

...dont forget you are paying for the seminar !! ...you have to know what they want you to know and some questions can be found in the documents you provided, why lie or make it up?? I dont see the point!!

Sars
why make it up???
For the very reasons that you gave in your post.

Knowing the family history, academic qualification of the spouse etc. has nothing to do with the supposed purpose of the seminars, i.e. to inform those attending of their rights etc. in the foreign land so they will be less likely to be abused, etc.

Oakwell,
Another better piece of advice...,,please dont try to wing it, Im sure you are more mature and intelligent than that as ''lying'' on the fly could easily trip you up, Just know the facts and be truthful...its for your own benefit :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Just on the point of the questions one might be asked.

We got married in 2006. I was 66 years old, British.

In conversation the other day, my wife told me that amongst other 'odd' questions, she was asked what was my mother's address and telephone number.

I had been divorced 20 years following 25 years of marriage.

My mother was 95 years old, I had left home when I was 20 !

I still say, that anyone who is asked ridiculous questions, should be aware they can make up an answer as the people asking have no idea what the correct answer is, especially if it has no relevance.

I would also just add, that at the time we got married I lived in Spain but my wife to be was not allowed to attend the seminar for Spain as I was British. She thus attended the British one. The officer at CFO, when she went to get the exit stamp, asked why had done the British one when she was going to live in Spain. Fortunately I had an email from CFO confirming that she had attended the 'correct' seminar, albeit she was gong to live in Spain not UK.
