I'm new on this forum and so I wanna say hello!
I arrived in the UK 3 months ago with an EEA permit. Currently applying for my residence card which is taking a while. It's ridiculous that it takes a maximum of 6 months for it to be processed. Anyway, I'm currently looking for a job, and as I found out, it's more difficult to find a job here than in Manila. If someone could help me, that would be nice. I actually live in Harrow right now, a meet-up around London or somewhere nearby would be great as I don't know anyone (a Filipino) personally yet. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

It would have been better to apply your Residence Card as soon as you arrived.
At least by now you would have received your confirmation of application letter which has lots of benefits including proving your immigration status to prospective employers.
Anyway, a warm welcome here to the forum. Hope you enjoy your stay, find some friends and importantly secure employment. :welcomex:

Hi Aprille, Welcome to the forum , you have to be patient especially with the eea stuff as it seems to take forever as we have found out , Hope you are enjoying Harrow , we are close by in Northolt , plenty of filipinos around here (northwick Park hospital, harrow town centre, sat afternoon ) you probably have not met many yet as it has been too cold for them to venture out

I am from Manila, I'm actually looking for a Japanese translating job. It seems like most of the recruiters only wanted an English or Japanese native speaker and I already don't qualify for that. I also had a QA game testing experience. It's really difficult since you're competing against 100 applicants if you choose to apply on admin jobs. So I'm hoping for a network connection between Filipinos...

I just got my residency card, and they have processed it earlier than expected. I want to meet some Filipinos and I can probably try going to the places you've mentioned since it's quite close to where I live.

Well done Aprille, it is so nice to see people with such a good get up and go attitude, you WILL succeed, sitting around waiting for a job to come to you is like waiting for Christmas and that is a long way off

Hello everyone, I introduced myself some time ago, and then got too busy at work to do any more than that. I'm Aprille's husband, so we're both in Harrow. Definitely looking forward to getting in touch with the Filipino community here! :)
