Hi everyone! Im buying stuffs for my balikbayan box. Is it alright to put in the box like Wine, microwave, and cheap jewelry?

I would not put wine in ,just in case it leaks ,but everything else would go in the box

Yes, just put in whatever you want, that will not (as Steve said) possibly do damage to your other stuffs in transit. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Pack carefully so that stuffs don't move about...especially things like heavy microwave ovens. :smile:

Thank you steve and graham :smile:, but i just rang in lbc london office and i asked about jewelry he said is not allowed to put inside because of the custom check and it might be the box will hold in the custom. :doh

If you send electrical items (like microwaves), try to send the instruction manual too....attached to it. Even on old or second hand ones you can usually download and print out the basic instructions for use, free off the internet.

Can save a lot of head-scratching at the other end. :smile:

We have sent Chocolate,Soap,Ibrufem 200mg Painkillers,recieved well and can fill some spaces in the Box :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I wouldn't send wine personally unless you put it in a good watertight bag.
The microwave may work but will not function correctly.
The microwave power output will be 20% over nominal.
If it has an electronic timer it will be 20% faster. Maybe it's cheaper to buy a micrwave in Philippines?
Anyway it's your choice.

LBC are pretty strict on the contents. Much stricter than many others.
If you send something on their prohibited list you'll have no comeback at all and may get charged for incurred costs. Be careful. At least look up their advice on their website.

As far as I know customs are no longer x-raying the containers or individual boxes. I seem to recall there's legislation prevent it. (maybe I got confused :Erm:)

We all send stuffs that might not be strictly allowed, but as long as there's no danger or serious reasons against (such as legal) then common sense prevails IMO

Have fun filling up your box. My daughter often asks for Pasta/Spaghetti. She claims ours is a much better quality and so much cheaper. I don't know how true that is but it's really not at all expensive in UK so I do send lots.:icon_lol:

Very interesting everyones comments on what to send and what not to send. Because good wine is so expensive in the Philippines I can see why it is very much in demand. We have sent quite a few bottles of wine over the years but we have always made certain that it is bubble wrapped and well secured by placing the bottles in the middle of the box surround by soft objects

yeah! i agree wine back home is so expensive and its good also for the gift for the special person. but i dunno now coz wine is a list of lbc prohibited items so its better to be careful and not to send my wine :yikes:

Sir peter my microwave bought in a car booths only 10 pound :Jump:, still quite nice and a good condition , i hope it will work in philippines.
