anybody got any info on claiming child benefit.

i am british national married to philippina who is now halfway through her FLR.

we are now in the process of bringing her 10yr old daughter from philippines to live with us in the UK.

on the form from the home office , the list of public funds not allowed to be claimed is child benefit.

i thought that this benefit was a given right but obviously not to legal immigrants who are working and paying into our tax system.

or can this only be claimed when she has ILR

regards

john:):):)

The kid isn't working and paying taxes though. :Erm:

If that rule was not in place, Filipina's would bring all the family over, 10 kids per mother , and the Indonesians....Indians....could you imagine the bill for the tax payer? :omg:

If it is YOUR child you can claim, otherwise you have decided to take on the childs responsibilty not the government, or anyone else. :)
