Why is it that when you forge a new relationship with someone and become friends they get taken?
I am in the back of beyond in China and made friends with a really nice guy Markus who sat opposite me in my office. He was a family man, 3 small daughters, nice wife. We played sports together and we both shared a love of motorbikes and would make fun of each other without getting mad only just joking around.
Then last night he was killed while on his motorbike.
Why do the wrong people get taken?
Thanks for being a friend Markus

Thanks Fred,
I guess there is no real answer to the question. Life ends when it ends. It's just a shame when it seems to end too early.

Right Steve.
His wife came in this morning, she is a Chinese lady, she is very nice as I have seen her several times. She was in floods of tears and she sat at his desk opposite me. It was hard to see this raw emotion so I went to her and put my arm around her. I feel sorry for the young daughters, 2 years and 3.5 years old.
I guess live life to the full, but be safe in whatever you do.

sorry to hear this sad news,
we don't know what's around the corner for any of us,
live and enjoy every moment,
it is those who are close and left behind who feel the pain and wonder why,
when you feel sad thinking of the loss, try to think of the good things that you shared that made you smile and laugh

Sincere condolences on your sad loss, Steve. True friends can be difficult to come by at the best of times ... without losing one to such sudden and tragic circumstances. :bigcry:
May the knowledge that he had been held in such high esteem by so many, comfort and sustain his grieving widow and young family.
RIP, Markus.

I'm sorry about the sad news Steve..:cwm3:
We all need to live each day as it's our last in any way we can. Death is our sure future, each of us just reach that future on different times.

Very very sad. I'm so sorry to hear of what must be a very upsetting time for you Steve.
I can empathise, as I'll never in my life forget the day when my late fiancee's brother in law came and knocked on my door at 8 o'clock one morning to tell me that the love of my life had died...in a motorbike accident.
Truth be known, I have never stopped grieving for her.
Also one of the reasons I paid for my son's CAR driving lessons, and why he used to tease me about worrying about him when he was out on his pushbike, even at 18 years old.

Like everyone else, I’m sorry to read of your loss, Steve. It’s hard for you and of course so much harder for the widow and family of Markus.
Losing a friend at any time is not easy, even worse if it is premature and sudden, with no time to prepare for such an event.
Losing a loved one under ANY circumstances is hard, and sadly something which we all have to cope with more than once.
We all have different ways of coming to terms with such loss. Friends – as here – offer support and condolences. No matter what our own beliefs may be, many do find consolation in their religious beliefs. Close friends and relatives are often supportive - but in truth may find it hard to find the right words or cope themselves.
Does a professional lifetime of dealing with death and bereavement, at all ages, from all causes, natural and unnatural, help ? It’s just as hard coping with personal losses, but I do count my blessings every day. The only consolation is if the person has lived a good and long life, sadly not always the case. Premature deaths, especially in children, are especially hard to deal with, whether or not one has been closely involved.
Steve, my sympathy is with you as I know you personally. Count YOUR blessings, you have many !

Hope you'll forgive my late post Steve.
Like everyone here I was saddened to read your story. Condolences Steve.
It's always so tough to face these happenings for the very reason you posted. That big question...Why.
Oftentimes we get 'touched' by other people we find in life.
Take care Steve
