I noticed on the UKBA website that sponsors most recent bank statements must be dated within 31 days of the visa application. Question: does the application date start with submission and payment of the online VAF, or is it at the Visa appointment with VFS?
I'm about to courier my documents over to wifey but her appointment is not till 18 july, by which time my statements may be out of date - anyone know?
thanks.

i thought i had answered this already :Erm:
i think the date is the date you 'submitted' the application and not the date of the visa appointment with VFS
if it's not an online bank statement, you could scan it in and email to your wife if need be

When applying for visa outside of UK the date of visa application is the date of visa payment.
Here's what UKBA state:-
The date of your application is the date when your application fee is paid to us. This will be the date shown on your payment receipt, which depends on how you paid for your visa application - for example, at a visa application centre or online.
Here's what UKBA state when applying for visa inside UK:-
If you send your application form and application fee by post, the date of application is the date of posting. This is decided by the postmark. If the postmark is illegible or missing, the date of postage is taken as being at least 1 day before it is received by us.
If you send your application form and application fee by courier, the date of application is the date when it is delivered to our payment handling service.
