I've not visited here for so long as have been getting married and applying for visas etc.
We have now applied and have all the info/ certificates required for my wife, i may be getting nervous and worried for no reason but the embassy called my wife and asked her to supply 6 months of bank statements for her bank.
I think this is because she is self employed ?
The thing is she doesnt have much in the way of savings and regular income being a wedding planner. I have heard rumours today that she should have savings if this is the case i can add money to her account but also how much is needed ?

I'm now getting so fed up with this country and its draconian laws.
Thanks for your advice guys in advance

Hi James, they probably just want to see if your wife's income is consistent, but I'm sure one of the moderators will give you a more detailed answer, good luck!:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Hi James
Little unsure of what your saying. Have you submitted it already, as your later post says your submitting it on 28th August.
Cant understand why your wife has to provide her bank statements for a spouse visa as the onus is on you to satisfy the financial requirements.

:xxgrinning--00xx3:
thou they are asking for bank statements not pay slips, have you been sending her money each month, maybe they want to see the payments going into her account :Erm:

Well don't panic. If you satisfy the requirements and have proved to them I'm sure it will be fine.
Many have been down this route so we understand your worries.
BTW congratulations to you and your lovely wife on your wedding :xxgrinning--00xx3:

Hi james - What financial requirement category did you apply under ?

As Joebloggs has stated it is a little odd as you are sponsoring your wife ? don't quite understand why they would wish to understand her financial situation at all, especially at this stage of the process when you have not yet even submitted your complete documentation.

I am sure all is good though and there is no need to be concerned.

Terpe is the expert on these matters from my experience and I am sure will comment soon...

I hope you've completed the right forms, as your partner isn't required to have a brass farthing (or even a bank account) if she is being sponsored by YOU for a spouse visa. :Erm:

Visitor Visa...yes.

Ok guys thanks for your help. I will double check form but very sure it was the correct one. She asked them why when the embassy called and they said because she is self employed ?
Could someone forward this to terpe. Thanks

as long as your earning £18.6k a year they should have no reason to refuse you on finances, i don't know why they have asked her for 6 months of bank statements,

are you definitely sure she said she asked for her bank statements ? i take it you sent 6 bank statements ? what was the date of the last bank statement you supplied ?

Hi all, definately was a spouse form we completed. Would it have to do with the new bond schemes i know we do not require a bond for spouse but would they do a check on financial status instead as that is what somebody told me ? Yes Joe i sent 6 statements well actually 8 because of delays. The last one was two months ago.

joebloggs
2nd August 2013, 10:53
no i don't think its to do with any bond scheme, as far as i can remember it will only apply to those who are applying for a temporary visa not a settlement visa - as why would you have a bond repayable when you leave if your on a settlement visa, you would never get it back

maybe they want your current statement?, if your last one is 2 months old ??
if they do, as long as its not an online one, you could scan it and email to your wife and she could print it out

Will see what they say when she sends them in. She now has over 120k php in her bank as had some debts paid to her and i sent her some extra. If they ask for mine its simple enough as you said. This is the worst time lol waiting ... and we havent even put my paperwork in yet just the online form.
