View Full Version : Departure fears

Here we go...

Tonight will be the last night that Jet sleeps in her own place...

Wednesday she will spend time gathering the last bits and pieces to stuff in the suitcase, saying the good-byes to family and friends, and at 10 pm the same evening she will be in Cebu airport ready to board that long flight into the unknown.

What will she be thinking, what will her fears be, what of her expectations...??

I wanted to ask the ladies in the forum, that have gone through this experience before, to share with me their thoughts on the matter.
So that I can find the right things to say, and do, to reassure her.
After all, she is leaving behind everything she has known all her life to start anew with me, near enough a stranger, half a world away from her roots.
So, please Ladies, what goes through your mind while waiting in the Airport departure lounge...???

thanks
Dom

ging tells me that she was very very excited but anxious at the same time wondering about life in the uk and being away for the first time in her life from her family, but it made it a lot easier because I was with her.
hope jet has a safe journey...... from Ging and Ricky

What will she be thinking, what will her fears be, what of her expectations...??

Well it's a mixed up feeling really if her first time to be away of her family and friends there’s a bit of …..

Nervous and anxious as she may face a new world
Fears as she will meet new people
Sad that she will leave her family and friends
Exciting as it’s a new life to her
Thinking how her life goes on…
How’s her relations to her in laws
How she will adjust the life here the cold weather
How she may cope everything here etc.
Happy because she will be with you again forever…..

love already said everything but when i first went to UK on a tourist visa to spend Christmas with my bf and his family was,the thing that worries me was if hes family going to like me. what are they going to say after they meet me. what should i wear when were going out.
but dont worry, jet will be fine. Filipinas are survivors whereever they are.
Goodluck to your new life together. Glad that youve already been through the sufferings of a long distance relationship.

Worries would be inevitable and I am sure she'll experience this so called "culture shock." But Filipinos have long been known for their toughness and easy-to-adapt attitude so I am quite sure she'll be alright. Besides, she'll be united with her man and nothing in the world will be too difficult to conquer when you both work hand in hand. Good luck and God bless:).

Well,

I received a text at 6 pm, telling me that she was boarding the plane...:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Two hours earlier I phoned her on the mobile, and she was in the deparure lounge, she was so excited I couldn't put a word in edgeways...:D

I got to admit that my mind wasn't with work all day, and I feel like skiving altogether tomorrow to get the last bits in place. :NoNo:
But I think I will just get up extra early and get on with it.

Thanks everyone for your comments and encouragement, love is there and genuine, and we will work very hard towards success.:Hellooo:

7.30 am...

This is like pulling teeth...:NoNo:

I have hardly slept all night, I am absolutely knackered.:NoNo:

To cap it all, I have to get to our Warrington office, pick up 1 of my large orders, which our delivery boys screwed up, and take it to Telford. :Brick:
And then try to be back in time in Wrexham for a couple of appoinments with other some customers.:furious3:

I still haven't washed and vacumed the car, empty butty boxes, old newspapers, fag packets and the remains of other bits and bobs without which a salesman could not survive on the road.:NoNo:
The windscreen and number plate are the resting place of zillions of violently expired bugs, collected over the summer months, from Cornwall to the Highlands of Scotland.
:dohSo this lot will take a while to scrape off....:bigcry:
Oh, well...
Another 10 and 1/2 hours before Jet sets foot in Manchester...
I suppose if I stick a broom up my :butthead:, I could sweep the floor while I do other things..:Help1:

Yes I do agree with that....

In the meantime, it is now 1.30ish pm, and she faithfully promised me a text as she was leaving Doha....:NoNo:
It hasn't happened... :doh

I checked with the arrivals page at Manchester Airport Website, and the flight, apparently, is on time... So she either forgot through excitement or she run out of credit...:furious3:

Women........

All done and dusted...

Jet is here, and finding her feet around the place.
Took her to the 24 hour Tesco last night, for a few bits and bobs, she was superglued to my side...:D Any tighter and we'd have been mistaken for siamese twins...
This morning she spent a long time reassuring her family, over the internet, that she was ok and extremely happy.

It transpired that the neighbours were unaware of her coming over... :Erm:
They were told that I was coming back there to Cebu and she was joining me at the hotel....
Something to do with jealousy, envy, badmouthing and US visa denials....:NoNo:

Went around Wrexham today, she could not get over the lack of security people guarding jewellery stores, banks and shops in general...
Knowing the place better, I wish dearly that there were....:doh
Slowly I am going to kit her out for the colder weather, but so far it looks good, hasn't mentioned the cold at all.
Holding and hugging her again made a huge impact to my feelings.
In fact, I did know I missed her a lot, what I hadn't realized was How much I missed her... I went all mushy...
