Foreign doctors ‘to face language tests before they can work in hospitals’ after complaints about poor care

General Medical Council could once again test English in change to EU law

I hope this gets implemented. It's an absolute disgrace that patients lives are continually put at risk whilst these people are employed in the NHS

this is for EU doctors only, as NON EU doctors already have to pass the Academic version on IELTS with at least 7.0 in each of the areas tested (speaking, listening, reading and writing) :wink:

also I'm sure some non EU doctors who are married to NON British EU citizens who are exercising their treaty rights don't have to take IELTS.
