View Full Version : Rep comments

It would appear some of the things I've said over the last few days haven't gone down too well with some people :yikes:
I've just had the pleasure of receiving negative rep with something I said in regard to a Moderators response in a thread. The comment was 'below the belt' no name unfortunately :Erm:
From my point of view at the moment there seems to be a clique that follows certain people on here and take offence to people having a difference of opinion :NoNo: It's a bit like a school playground sometimes where some are eager to dish it out but don't like it being returned.
To make things crystal clear, we all know the Moderator is Joe, and please trust me Joe this isn't aimed at you, hey I even sent you positive rep for making me laugh in the same thread.
Yesterday I tried helping a fellow member in regard to a UKBA form, but I was shot down in flames for saying wait till the morning and I would find out the answer :Erm:
To sum up, I enjoy the forum and a lot of the banter as well as the community spirit, BUT if my presence here causes offence then say so and I'll take my leave.
Over to you guys, should I stay or.........

Stay around Simon sometimes these threads do get a bit heated
- I just view it as "Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me". When the tired old racist jibes start you know they're clutching at straws

Simon ... I'd like you to stay. But, perhaps you could be specific about the post(s) you think may have inadvertently caused undue offence, to enable us Mods to look into the matter further.

We don't take things personal in this forum, pure banter is ok,...every member is entitled to their opinion but we also need to abide by the forums terms and conditions.
As it is a forum mainly for helping others - and this fact we all need to remember - it is also a general forum and some may get cliquey and protective about the forum and about their points of view but as half the people on here are filipinos and there for I am guessing catholic we need to remember that to err is human and to forgive is divine..before negative rep is handed out a consultation should take place..a simple apology or "i didn't mean to offend" maybe a more positive result. so please stay if you enjoy the forum will always need as many members as possible for all views and assistance...even if if some don't value, agree or require it.

Simon....don't take it to heart mate.
I for one enjoy your posts, your knowledge, and your sense of humour. :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Lots of us (:cwm25:) have got strong views, and there is always somebody who's not going to agree with us.
Sometimes you just need to know when to make a dignified retreat, and let the others party on....as I OFTEN do.
I also very much appreciate Joe's input....even if I don't always go along with his views.

Actually having just read through that thread I do think that he was a bit rude in his replies to Joe.. Uncall`d for!!
Personally I have no problem with people being blunt and honest with me just as long as they can take my blunt and honest replies in a similar way..
I have to say that he didnt do that..He started a thread about leaving the forum because someone quite obviously upset him..
I wonder who that was!!

well your not going to get on with everyone, some of us are not politicians trying to please everyone, just need to tolerate other peoples views without getting personal :cwm25:

Agreed Joe..
But.. We all have bad days occasionally and say things we might not under better circumstances..
For me personally, unless its malicious, its not an issue and should be dealt with in a mature adult fashion.
Life goes on.

Thanks for all the positive and constructive comments everyone (even yours Joe )
Hand on heart, it was the negative rep that made me :cwm23: and if I'm being totally honest I still don't think it was justified.
Maybe a suggestion for the Mods :Erm: Is it possible for the members name to be automatically included when giving out rep (both positive and negative), personally like to know who's sent me rep so I can drop them a quick note saying thanks (or in this instance, why).
Looks like you lot are stuck with me, you must be more  than me :xxgrinning--00xx3:
Oh, and to whoever gave me bad rep :action-smiley-081: :xxangry-smiley-009::spank::UpYurs:

Not everything we write on the internet gives out the meaning it is we meant. Some people seem blunt, and it can be down to writing style. Until the internet arrived, a lot of people probably hadn't strung a constructive sentence together for decades.
I get neg rep now and again, of course it is meaningless because I'm always right
