Pathetic - who's offended by this ?

ITV footballer presenter Adrian Chiles has come under fire for a Polish 'joke' he made during the channel's coverage of England's 4-1 victory over Montenegro.

Near the end of the broadcast, Chiles started to look forward to England's clash with Poland on Tuesday night – a match that will secure England's place in the World Cup if they win.

Chiles, whose mother is Croatian, said that the game on Tuesday is "practically a home game for Poland – 15,000 Poles will be in here, I’m sure."

Pundit Lee Dixon responded by saying: "Hopefully, they’re all crying at the end," to which Chiles replied: "I'm trying to get some building work done at the moment, quite seriously. Be careful."

The remark seemed to play up on the stereotype that vast majority of Polish people in London work in the construction industry.

The comment sparked an immediate debate on Twitter with some people labelling it a racist remark, while others countered saying people were overreacting.

Ridiculous. He's got nothing to apologise for.

Thanks to the Uman Rites Act and political correctness thats the farcical society we live in.

What about Alan Sugar getting investigated for racism - he ought to get his brief to start an antisemitism action :-

Lord Alan Sugar was accused of racism and investigated by the police after he tweeted a ‘joke’ about a Chinese child being upset in an iPhone factory.

Publishing pictures of a baby in a watermelon costume, Lord Sugar said: ‘The kid in the middle is upset because he was told off for leaving the production line of the iPhone 5.’

Lord Sugar, who was referencing factories in China where the smartphone is made, was branded a ‘vile racist’ by a Twitter user.

How many 'races' of people are there now supposed to be in this world ? :anerikke:

What utter nonsense, and a damning indictment of the poor standard of education in this country. :NoNo:

I've just been listening to a phone in where people are saying we should be stopping children using the word gay at school. This was brought about by Will Young writing to Michael Gove because he thinks it's a crisis.

The singer says the use of the insult in schools is a "crisis" and is working with ministers and charities to clamp down on it.

We had this argument several years ago when Chris Moyles used the word. It was agreed that the word was generally used by the younger generation to mean "Lame" or "Rubbish".

I think the PC brigade are taking over the world :cwm23:

When i was a young boy living at home I always fancied the idea of being a missionary..maybe it had something to do with watching all those black and while American war films on a Sunday afternoon

Just a thought:smile:
