My UK driving licence was only valid for 90 days in Philippines,

my licence was both for motor cycle and car,

for me to drive now in Philippines do I have to start from scratch and pass new tests here, or do they convert my licence for driving here? :Erm:

can anyone advise please

Yes you can get your UK licence converted.. It shouldnt be that expensive but it depends in which LTO office you apply in.. They wanted 5K from me in Imus..A complete scam so I waited till I got to Bohol and I think it cost me around 500.00 Pesos.

Probably more now though..

I`d allow for a days work if I were you because of drug testing and paperwork etc..
Happy new year BTW!!
Fred.

got my licence converted for both car and motorcycle, a friend restaurant owner and neighbour, introduced me to some of his friends at LTO, took about 2 hours, eye exam and blood test , friendly chat,

and cost me 5000 peso plus about 50 peso to the doctor for eye exam and blood test :icon_lol:

its renewable every 3 years unlike my UK licence that doesn't expire until 2024

I know you've moved out there, but if you ever come back to Europe, can you rent a car/drive on that Philippine licence though? I think I'd re-take my test out there and get a 'local' licence.

I don't know how things work , but I still have my uk licence photo card and paper counterpart,
unless somehow its cancelled out

I would have thought your UK licence will be ok until it expires Stewart!:Erm:

I was out of UK for 4 years.
When I landed at Heathrow I hired a car without any issues.

As far as I know if your licence is valid that's it, regardless of how long you're absent from UK and regardless of which foreign driving licence you've held (hold)

They would not accept my licence because it was not plastic :yikes:

Lol... that is just stupid (it's £5.50 now)

an IDP should be enough... http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/overseas/idp-requirements-by-country.html#notes

from memory it should be less than 2,000 - though you still need to bribe the police for white tax :(
