Denis Waterman aka Terry McCann / DS George Carter in The Sweeney now part owns a country pub just up the Lane where I grew up - funny thing is when I first drank there illegally as an underage 16 year old it was run by an ex Flying Squad Sergeant

Really? :cwm24: ... now there's a coincidence!

I realise it's a bit before your time ... :anerikke: ... but did you know that the late, great Scottish Actor, Alistair Sim had been a sort of "minder" to George Cole in the sense that he took the young George under his wing during the latter's early acting career?

........................ :yeahthat:'s right ... Alistair Sim played the part of the Headmistress in the St Trinians films and George Cole was the school "handyman"/errand boy, *with an eye for the young "chicks", *if my memory serves me correctly.

:iagree: ... marvellous vintage black & white comedy! :xxgrinning--00xx3:

"Cottage to let" was the first film featuring Alistair Sim and George Cole made in 1941. "The Happiest Days of your Life" followed with both of them in it in 1950.

I watched an episode of Minder not so long ago, but it wasn't at home. Might have been in the Phils. :Erm:
