I would like to say Hello to everyone and introduce myself.

I met my wife online around 18 months ago and we were married on my first visit to the Philippines last October.

While visting her family in Bohol my wife heard that a letter from the Embassy had arrived at her place of work in Manila. We had handed in all the documentation required for the application for a Spouses Settlement Visa on the 20th September so the current waiting time is approximately 6/7 weeks.

Today after an anxious wait and travelling straight to her work from the airport on her arrival back in Manila we got the news that the application has been granted.

I would like to say to anyone that is currently going through or preparing for a similar visa application not to be intimidated by all of the beaurocracy involved.

Our situation was far from simple and my circumstances are not those that you would think of as being ideal to proceed with an application.

I have read posts on this forum on and off for the last year or so and found them to be very interesting.

So now all we have to do is finalise the arrangements in the Philippines and then I will be with my wife again after such a long wait.

Good luck to anyone in similar circumstances and keep your spirits high and I am sure everything will be successful for you also.

and more important, make sure your wife is in the uk within 28 days of the start date of the spouse visa, or when its time for her to apply for ILR, you might have to apply for FLR first wasting :REGamblMoney01HL1: :doh
