Cheers, hopefully who ever took it will contact Emirates when they open it to find a bag full of baby clothes. We know the person who left a similar one are booked on a flight on 1st January and they will be asked about it then if they don't make contact before.

I know how it feels Simon.

My (then) little boy lived there off and on from being a baby. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I used to carry him around on my back in one of those baby carrier things. On the Jeepneys too. Always the centre of attention...him, that is.

Well a quick update... Yesterday the woman who left her bag called Emirates to say she's left by mistake and thought her friend had picked her bag up but denied having our bag :Erm:

Today she phones them back and says she's found our bag :icon_lol: when I questioned Emirates on this their explanation was that she is Asian :NoNo:

Anyway Shey is happy as we went and bought loads of new baby clothes today and we'll get our bag back tomorrow :Erm:

Back on topic, I'm enjoying an ice cold SM in the overcast but hot weather

Didn't I suggest sending over a good petrol lawn mower?
Oops..Sorry.
You can get them here for about 200 Quid.
Petrol strimmer`s are around 18k but they don't seem to last long..we are on our 4th and the crank shaft and piston have just gone!! Only a year old. Grrr!
The lawn mower that we had sent from the UK is still going strong though, 4 years later. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I used to fit snow tyres to my car and it made a huge difference.
Large pwerful engines with automatic transmission don't make good partners with snow and ice.
I could almost anything with snow tyres. Got a set from Costco years ago for less than £100

SimonH
27th December 2014, 10:08
The trouble with modern day cars is the trend for low profile wide tyres. Compare a modern day Range Rover to a proper Land Rover and the Land Rover will go up a snow covered mountain with no worries, whereas the Range Rover is more at home doing a school run :cwm25:

Cold mornings to persist

Filipinos will continue to wake up to cold mornings in the first two to three weeks of February.

The northeast monsoon or amihan is expected to persist this month, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

The months of January and February are generally the coldest in the Philippines, the weather bureau said.

It expects a gradual weakening of the northeast monsoon in the early part of March.

PAGASA said the coldest temperatures recorded so far in Metro Manila and Baguio City since the onset of the amihan last October were 18.1 degrees Celsius and 10.4 degrees Celsius.

No tropical cyclone is expected to affect the country this week, PAGASA added.

However, the northeast monsoon will still bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol, parts of Central Luzon and Eastern Visayas.

Metro Manila will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Caraga and Davao regions will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms.

In a climate outlook last week, PAGASA saw a slim chance of tropical cyclone development this month.

It warned the public of big waves over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon and eastern seaboard of Luzon and Visayas due to the surge of the northeast monsoon.

Siberian winds bring coldest day on Tuesday

http://1-ps.googleusercontent.com/hk/8Ej_RX2NZOuQFXTAduxSTxjZzh/newsinfo.inquirer.net/files/2015/02/620x334xmtsat-feb-3-2015-1201pm.jpg.pagespeed.ic.QY3z3mw6wTy5vS8-92-_.jpg

The northeast monsoon blowing from the frozen region of Siberia in Russia pushed the temperature down to 18 degrees Celsius in Metro Manila Tuesday morning—the coldest yet for 2015.

And it may get colder in the following days, said Shaira Nonot of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Nonot said the coldest temperature was recorded at 6:45 a.m.

The new record beat the level set last January 26 when the temperature dropped to 18.5 degrees Celsius.

Nonot said the northeast monsoon, or amihan which began in October, usually peaked in January or February. Nonot said cold weather would likely prevail until early March.

The all-time low temperature record in Metro Manila was at 14.9 degrees Celsius on March 1, 1963.

Baguio City also experienced its coldest temperature since the onset of northeast monsoon on Monday at 9.8 degrees Celsius.

'Stronger' storms feared as dry spell forecast in Philippines

The disaster-haunted Philippines is likely to be hit by stronger typhoons this year as warming ocean surfaces contribute to a dry spell, the state weather service warned Wednesday.

The Asian archipelago, whipped by about 20 typhoons and storms each year, is now in the grips of the "El Nino" phenomenon that can make storms "stronger" and more "erratic", weather service chief Vicente Malano said.

"El Nino may cause the behaviour of tropical cyclones to become erratic, affecting (their) tracks and intensity," he said in an advisory, adding that the same number of storms are expected.

"The tropical cyclone tracks are expected to shift northward and (their) intensity could become stronger," Malano said.

Super Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest ever to hit land, left more than 7,350 people dead or missing in central regions of the Philippines in November 2013 as it dumped tsunami-like waves on coastlines, wiping out entire towns.

Philippine officials have blamed climate change for increasing the ferocity of recent typhoons, causing them to strike even outside the traditional rainy season of June-September and to hit once largely-untouched areas.

"El Nino" refers to the abnormal warming of surface ocean waters in the eastern tropical sections of the Pacific Ocean every three to five years.

The phenomenon, which the weather service said it began observing last December, leads to drier-than-average conditions on one side of the Pacific and wetter ones on the opposite coast.

After waiting 20 minutes and finding out from one of the many managers running around in circles that nobody knows what's going on we joined the hundreds of others and left our trolley where it was and left.

Chickens:...recommend you raise the coop off the ground at least 12 inches, plus fit it with wire mesh small enough to keep rats and (larger) snakes out. Half inch by half inch max. Avoid draughts by fitting 'solid' sides where the birds will sleep.

The higher the better. Bear in mind that these birds actually roost high up in trees when left to their own devices in the province.

Well, :icon_rolleyes: ... she maintains she's more careful than I am in skirting round her beloved plants.

Thankfully we've had a few really good downpours these past couple of days.
Very much needed here in Mindanao with a noticeable increase in river water levels.

With it comes some cooler conditions.

Have to say, a heavy downpour of rain here is really something. The lightning shows are spectacular.

Lovely evening here in Davao City.
Just been for a nice stroll together down to our local market.

Some great fresh seafoods for our evening meal and a big bunch of local bananas :hubbahubba:

Another good forecast for tomorrow.
Although we still need a lot of rain.

Heard on the news that Nueva Ecija is also looking for some rain to top up water levels which have reached critical lows

It has to be admitted Graham, these local spuds have a great flavour and texture, and despite the highish price are worth it.

Beautiful weather here in the mountain forests of Compostela Valley.

Going down to the ocean tomorrow for beach picnic and fishing, then prepare to return to a normal life in Davao City.

Already planning my next visit back in mountains.
Got a lot to build my Nippa house so I can be more independent.
The weather is so much kinder here compared to the relentless intense heat of Davao City.

Can't beat the mountains in my opinion.
Excluding some of the larger cities and towns the air is fresher and cooler than it is in the lowlands.

The price of property near the sea in the Philippines, has risen sharply over the last 10 years and is now overpriced in my opinion. Run to the hills!

Good luck with your Nippa hut Peter.

Yes Jake, we're already planning to run to the hills :xxgrinning--00xx3:
With the cooler fresher climate I'm able to do so much more.
We have an uncle who will design and build our 'Nippa house'
It'll basically be place to stay of our very own we we visit the area. Nothing special but will have a proper CR and shower room etc.

We only planned this trip for a weekend but already been here over a week.
We may stay on for a while still it's so nice and everyone is friendly.
The one thing I'm still wary about is this business of sharing and passing around the single cup of beer.

The weather today is a little overcast but very pleasant.
I'm thinking about another day at the deserted beach for picnic and fishing. Better get another case of San Mig

That's why we'll be be constructing a Nippa house in the mountains, but still within easy reach of the ocean for my fishing trips.
