Trying to work out the process for obtaining car insurance for my fiancée to drive here. Does she need a Uk driving licence? Whilst there does not seem to be a system of No Claims Bonus in the Phils, would a letter from her existing insurance company help here?
Or is it a case of waiting until we have FLR, then sit driving test and take it from there?
Any thoughts or experience greatly appreciated.
PS I would have thought anybody who can drive in Manila would have no problems in rural Scotland!:transam-front-ramai

She can drive for up to a maximum 12 months on her current valid Philippine licence, after which she'll need to pass both theory and practical UK tests to get a UK licence.
If she has no driving licence at all she'll need to apply by post (not online) for a provisional licence from DVLA
Whichever licence she uses you could include her as a named driver on your policy. Some policies allowed a named driver to build up their own NCB .....check around.
Otherwise she'll need her own from scratch. Ouch!
Many insurances do offer some pretty good new customer discounts.
