Hi
I am wondering if I need a CENOMAR (as the Brit getting married in Phil)?

I have a CNI issued in UK and an appointment to exchange it at the British embassy in Manila?

Is it also required for me to get a CEMONAR in the Philippines?
:Erm:

Well Neil, unlike having a Philippine version CNI to present when applying for a marriage licence (which is a specific legal requirement) there is no specific legal requirement for CENOMAR of the foreign party.
However......it is a legal requirement that the appropriate authorities satisfy themselves that the marriage will be legally valid and these days more and more actually DO request sight of the CENOMAR of the foreign party.

Personally, I'd always advise to secure one since the cost and effort to secure a CENOMAR is minimal...it can be all be done online from the NSO here (https://www.ecensus.com.ph/Default.aspx). Your fiancee will need hers anyway.
At least it can avoid potential delay to your timeline if you need to obtain one in a hurry.

Alternatively have your fiancee discuss the requirements with the authorities where she intends to apply the marriage licence and find out if they will ask for your CENOMAR or not.

IF the authorities request it then you are legally obliged to present it.
If they don't then you won't.....

Yes I agree. I asked my wife to be to arrange to collect one for me from NSO after I gave her my details. It cost just a few hundred pesos, and worth peace of mind :)

Hope all goes well for you.

It's only been recently that the CENOMAR of the foreign party has begun to be requested when applying for a marriage licence......maybe due to abuses of those previously married in Philippines :Erm:

As previously mentioned, it's not a specific legal requirement, but failure to present one when requested by those authorities who issue the marriage licence, would be a legal impediment and may cause delays or even refusals.

As Terpe said, there is no legal requirment but nevertheless I arranged for one, it doesn't cost much. I took it the Embassy last July but they didn't need it. Still, it's a nice document to have. :)

Better to be safe than sorry :)
