Watched it yesterday with my wife. We'd been looking forward to having the chance to watch this together and given quite a bit of hype our expectations had gotten quite high.

No worries though..........this film exceeded them.

It's deeply emotional and at times the sheer tragedy is overpowering......simply because it's such a common story many of us here in Filipino UK can relate to.
Simple honest provincial family being scammed and corrupted by the metropolis that is Manila.
Anyone who knows the basics of life on the edge in Manila can't help to feel the effects of modern cinematography and the honest powerful performance of the cast.

It might be a simple and well trodden story line, but it's bang up-to-date and remains gripping and intense throughout.

I won't spoil by mentioning too much about what hooks you, just to say that as most folks here know I'm a big fan of Quentin Tarantino and this film could well have been one of his gems.

Very highly recommended.

The English subs are simple and easily read without distracting for a single moment from the remarkable visuals.

It's morality, but not as we know it.
Not sure how many of us in the west could survive with love against such life struggles.

DVD Graham.
I walked into HMV and asked one of the assistants...they knew exactly where it was.
Saved me the time of scouring the shelves
Got on a promo at £6.99 (Usually £9.99)

Less than the price of a packet of smokes.

Funnily enough I dumped 2 video tape machines a couple of weeks ago.....including a Betamax. No idea at all why I'd kept it all these years...still fired up when plugged in though.....
Must've been be over 30 years old I reckon.

Ah, thanks. That is almost within my budget. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I'm the proud owner of two VHS players....one built into a small telly and the other I paid 5 quid for in 2004. I do still have a few VHS tapes.

Just a thought :Erm: I'll post my copy to the first person who asks for it and they in turn send it onto the next etc. Last person who wants to watch it sends it back to me
