Came back on an A380 with Emirates last year, but that was into Heathrow. All I can say is WOW  What an experience!

Like other aircraft Sing A380s can get hit by turbulence :yikes:

Oh yes ... upper deck seats are GREAT! :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I was offered one on my second trip to the Phils ... and that surprised me, because up until then, I'd been under the impression they weren't available to Economy Class passengers.

Loads of legroom for tall blokes like myself. :Jump:

Can you check in online with Singapore Airlines and get upper deck seats ?

Yes you can.....like most airlines if you want to do it early there's a price but 24 hours ahead it's usually free-for-all.......if you want upper-deck you'll probably be OK as your a single traveller.
We were lucky enough to secure a 'couples' seat. That was out of season in November.

Might be some worthwhile added benefits by enrolling for KrisFlyer Membership :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I was downstairs but it was still amazing experience, while you're waiting to board the gate, look at the buggies they move your luggage around on - they look tiny compared to the planes engines :xxgrinning--00xx3:

You can fit 80 cars on each wing!

I just checked in.

Got an upstairs window seat on the way out. A downstairs window seat on the way back.

So an A380 to Singapore. Then a next generation Boeing 737-800 to Cebu.

On the way back an airbus A320 to Singapore. Then an A380 back to Heathrow.

The take off thrust of a Boeing 777 300ER is pretty awesome.

Is it better than that then ?

The take off on a A380 is pretty amazing

Very quiet no shaking and all off a sudden you lift off (you dont think the plane is going fast enough to take off)

Total opposite of a 747

Yes, the engines are so much quieter than any other plane. I have flown on the A380 several times now with Singapore and Malaysia, and to be honest once you're on it and sitting down, there is not a lot of difference to say the 777-300er. Same leg room, same entertainment system. Unless you have the suite or first class which is then amazing.

It is nice though to be able to have a walk between decks and stretch the legs. If you fly onto Philippines on a 777-200 then you will notice the difference in cabin interior, older TVs and seating.

Enjoy your trip, I'm sure you will.

I was looking to go in April but it's rather expensive before Easter. My friend just paid £585 with Singapore, flying on the 20th of April I think.

Been reading that a Singapore Airlines A380 was diverted to Baku Airport in January after losing cabin pressure due to a problem with the door seal. The aircraft lost height quickly and oxygen masks deployed.

The plane landed safely with no issues but apparently it's not the first time there has been a problem with the door seal

Haha..amazing aren't they !

When I lived on the farm up North, there was another farm nearby where the r/controlled plane-flying people used have big meetings, similar to the ones in these videos. Some incredible little machines being put through their paces.

I'm going back a long time pre-2000 but back then when I was flying in and out of Japan I could get an economy ticket for around £500, the business class ticket was £4000 and the first class ticket was a whopping £11000.

When the company would pay for first class of course I gladly took it. But it's never worth the extra money...........not my money anyway.

I wouldn't want to guess the price these days
