Hello one and all! I have recently applied for a Short Stay Schengen Visa to the Embassy of Germany by post. I would like to share my experience hoping that this will help fellow forum members save time in going to London.

The German Embassy issued me a multiple entry visa valid until January 2015.

Please be aware that there are ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS before you can apply by post.

Eligibility

To apply for a visa from the German Embassy London by post, please ensure you meet the requirements for postal applications or your documents will be returned to you. You may only apply by post if you meet one of the following:






You are an immediate family member of an EU or German national or







You have had a Schengen visa from the German Embassy in London issued within the past 12 months or







If you have had at least 2 used Schengen visa from any Schengen Embassy issued within the past 24 months or







If you have had a one-year or multiple-year Schengen visa issued within the last 24 months and have used it

My husband is an EU Citizen and I have been granted a one-year Schengen visa by the French Embassy in London last year (expired March 2014) so I have met two eligibility requirements.

DOCUMENTS POSTED



Duly completed Application Form (this should be completed online, then printed)
Signed Declaration Form (since I hold a Philippine Passport )
Applicant’s Passport + 1 copy
Applicant’s Biometric Residence Permit + 1 copy


*Identity documents should be valid for 3 months beyond the return date of scheduled trip.


2 colour photos
Marriage Certificate + 1 copy
Spouse’s Passport + 1 copy
Proof of Address (this is to prove that you are living together) + 1 copy


*I just included one Bank Statement with my name and one utility bill with husband’s name on.


Postal Order of £17 paid to ‘VF Services Ltd’ (this is the service charge, there is no visa fee)
Pre-paid, self-addressed Royal Mail Special Delivery Envelope.



Once I have gathered all the documents, I sent them via Special Delivery to the following address:

Germany Visa Application Centre,
18-22 Mosley Street
Manchester
M2 3AG


APPLICATION TIMELINE (processing times varies especially during peak times)

29 Apr – Documents sent to Manchester via Special Delivery
1 May – Documents sent to the Embassy of Germany in London
13 May – Decision made
14 May – Documents arrived back with a shiny stamp!

Please also bear in mind that in order to apply by post, you have to be living under the jurisdiction of the German Embassy in London. Please check this map for clarification.
