Peacock

A peacock appeared and he's been roaming around for almost 3 days now, apparently it is their mating season which explains his 'noise' to attract female peacocks. He somehow fell in love with my parking spot hence he is always chilling there like he owns it. We have called the RSPCA but they just advised us to stop feeding him and one neighbor already complained and wrote it in the local news website.

Nice one, I was shown round a medieval manor house recently and the peacocks were up in the roof beams of a tithe barn - I just thought they grubbed around on the ground

Dedworth, yes they do fly!! and nest in trees!! I was shocked too when the lady told me about it! :yikes:

We have them in the public gardens in the middle of York.

I don't believe they 'nest' in trees, (the park keepers usually give the eggs to chickens to incubate) but visitors are certainly amazed to see them fly up and strut about the top of a 6 storey building. :cwm24:

Last week/Two weeks ago, we also saw a peacock on the road by the farms by us! Hubby thought it was just a pheasant afar, but when we got nearer, we were surprised it was a peacock! A farmer around the area probably owns it or has them. I was telling Keith to phone RSPCA coz I was worried it might get hurt or hit by a car. Fortunately, we didn't see any carcass/roadkill the following day. :wink:

When I lived at Thurgoland they used to tour the village and come into people's gardens, they also used to fly on to the roofs of our houses and stay there for hours on end!:xxgrinning--00xx3:

We've seen last year (around July) a peacock with its babies in a garden store. They're so cute! :biggrin:

I was hesitant at first about living in the rural before I came here to the UK. But with all the wildlife surrounding me, plus the thought of we will never get flooded, I'm liking it now! :icon_lol: Keith was saying that in case we get flooded here, that would only mean Denbigh town and other places already turned into sea! :biggrin:

But when you got home Keith said, 'I am just going out for a few minutes' then he comes home with a big chicken for dinner :Erm::Erm:

Its either Peacock molting season or the monkey`s have had a go at it.
