The Scottish fan seen wildly celebrating Luis Suarez’s winning goal against England can be revealed as a Formula One engineer who decided to adopt Uruguay in the World Cup after Scotland failed to qualify.
Wearing a tartan hat with Saltire held aloft, Mark McConville, who works for McLaren Petronas, stood out like a sore thumb as the TV camera panned across the celebrating fans.
Mr McConville, who lives in Northampton, is an avid Celtic fan who started following Ururguay in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa - and claimed to have kissed 500 Uruguayan woman after they reached the semi-final.
