Getting married in the Philippines (Irish guy)

Hi guys,

Myself and Levin are planning on getting married in the Philippines - in February next year.

I'm Irish, with an Irish passport and have been living here in the UK already 2.5 years.

Levin will be in the Philippines until such time as our spouse visa is hopefully approved after the wedding in June/July (hopefully).

Since I'm an Irish citizen, should I apply at the Irish or English Embassy?

The link below details how a British citizen can go about getting married in the Philippines. One of the mandatory fields is 'British passport number' which suggests to me that I won't be able to apply here...

As an Irish citizen you should you should seek advice from the Irish Embassy/Consulate.

Additionally, as an EU national living and working in the UK you do not need to follow the UK immigration rules in having your wife join you here. You should be following the EU regulations of freedom of movement under treaty rights by having your wife make application for an EEA Family Permit. (Which is free of charge)

Ed, have you bought the wedding forward, just you said February in the first post now November in your latest post....

I am not sure, but if you hold an Irish passport I would say the Irish embassy.... Have they not got a website so you can send a message to them?

Tanks for the feedback terpe, sorry for taking a while to cop on to things.

Tbh, the plan to get married in november was a bit of a last minute idea.

I had already booked my 2 weeks holidays in november way back in june of this year for just 2 weeks,which i realise now is not long enough for marriage..

So my plan now is to start the marriage process when i go over in november, by going to the irish embassy visit, followed by the local registry, who will then post the intent to marry on their notice board for 10 days.

Once this 10 day period is up, we will get issued with a marriage license, which is valid for up 120 days.

Since this document will be valid for 120 days after issuing, we plan to get married in February 2015 (registry office).

I will spend just 2 weeks in February, however this should suffice, since i will have completed the 10 days 'notice board' period back in november 2014.

Does this make sense to you guys?

Does this look like a goer?
