Hi lovely people.
We have started looking into the required English exams required for the visa.
Wondered if anyone could recommend schools or tests in the Cebu area. Cebu city especially.
What are the standards required?
Is there anywhere to get some samples papers?
Thanks guys.

Looks as though Dumaguete don't do IELTS anymore, well it's not listed! :Erm:

Hi Cheekee! After reading the link on Terpe's post, you might want to go to SMEAG. It's an English international school approved by the British Council to conduct IELTS. You don't need to pay for the review fees. All access to review materials (including weekly mock tests) is free if you'll take the exam through British Council.
Here's the address:
S. Cabahug corner Gochan Streets,
Barangay Mabolo,
Cebu City.
If you're taking a cab, tell the driver to take you at SME (for short) and mention to drop you at the international school for Koreans (though technically its not exclusive for Koreans). If you want to take a jeepney, you can take the 03B jeepney route. The junction is the jeepney's last stop in Mabolo.
The requirements in applying for IELTS if you've decided to register at British Council are:
1. One (1) valid National ID (any of the following may be considered as a valid ID)
> Passport (valid at least 6 months before test date and must NOT have holes)
> PRC Professional ID
> SSS ID card
> GSIS e-card
> Multipurpose unified national ID
2. photocopy of ID
3. Test fee. ( I paid Php 8,986 when I took the exams on May 24, 2014.)
The amount is subject to change so you might also want to have a look on updates online or try to ask Ms. Ruby who is in-charge of the IELTS Dept.
I would also recommend to use your current passport in submitting your registration. I've read in the UKBA website that they will be checking out your passport number if you really took the test.
I hope this will help. Good luck

Since when has there been an English exam requirement for a spouse visa?
Didn't know this.
My gf is doing IELTS and secured 6.5, not sure how this relates to the B1 standard that's been mentioned above?

She will be fine if she has done IELTS and got 6.5.... If I remember correctly, the minimum score is 4.0.
Just be sure it is done at an approved place or they won't accept it.
I suggest you take a bit of time to read up on spouse visa supporting documents, do a search on the forum.... I didn't know quite a bit until I came to this site.
