UPDATE, Oct. 7, 10:45 p.m. ET: Super Typhoon Vongfong is maintaining its extraordinary intensity, with 180 mile per hour estimated sustained winds and higher gusts.

Damn!! That thing looks like Yolanda did. Its throwing us quite a bit of rain and gusty winds even from that distance!
It looks like this could get bad.

I'm no expert but from what I have seen, they always seem to gather strength at sea.. Not seen one get weaker until it hits a significant amount of land.

Based on the latest computer model simulations, Super Typhoon Vongfong appears intent on curving up and over the entirety of Japan, but it will weaken as it continues its journey northeastward. By the time it reaches Tokyo it will be more like a tropical storm..

Hard to believe but it's still really windy here.. Lost some plastic roof last night..It's long gone!
