Hi to everybody, let me tell you my story. It's not too long and I hope I don't bore you.

It all began in 2013 when I joined an international dating site and met this most wonderful Filipina who has a working Visa to work in Italy and she's been there nine years. Now I think I need to get her a sponsor so she can get a working Visa to work here.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Your best starting point for understanding the UK system is to review the UKVI website specifically for such visa's called Work Visa (https://www.gov.uk/browse/visas-immigration/work-visas )

If you need to understand more about the requirements for employers to become licensed sponsors then take some time to read the UKVI webpage called UK visa sponsorship for employers (https://www.gov.uk/uk-visa-sponsorship-employers )

You should pay particular attention to the section 8 called Job suitability (https://www.gov.uk/uk-visa-sponsorship-employers/job-suitability) and follow all the key links.

Here's a list of UKVI Registered Sponsors under tiers 2 & 5 (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/366855/Tiers_2___5_Register_of_Sponsors_2014-10-24.pdf ) under tiers 2 & 5

Here's the tier 2 Shortage Occupation list (https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/308513/shortageoccupationlistapril14.pdf )

Have fun and good luck

....she's been there nine years ......

Just wondering if it might be better in the long run to complete her 10 years in Italy and apply for citizenship. That way she'd be free to come to UK as an EU national under freedom of movement and not need any working visa or specified employment at all.

Food for thought

Hi Nobby, and welcome. Definitely the simplest way would be for her to complete her 10 years in Italy and then apply for Italian citizenship.

Thanks guys I already mentioned to her about applying for a Italian citizenship but she told me she'd needed to marry an Italian if you guys are right we can wait another year it would certainly be a lot easier and then can she live and work indefinitely in the UK

Italian citizenship can be gained by birth, descent, marriage or naturalization.

3. NATURALISATION

Required legal residence in Italy for:

◦3 years for descendents of former Italian citizens up to the second degree and for foreigners born on Italian soil;
◦4 years for citizens of a European Union country;
◦5 years for Stateless persons and refugees, as well as for adult foreigners over the age of 18 adopted by Italian citizens;
◦7 years for children adopted by Italian citizens before the entry into effect of Law no. 184/1983;
◦10 years for non-EU citizens.
No period of legal residence is required for foreigners who have been employed in the service of the Italian Republic for a period of at least 5 years, also abroad.

I'd certainly suggest she follows up on that route
