Hi... Does the UK Embassy conduct background checks for visa applications and call employers to verify the applicant is their employee?
It's because when I submitted my application, I have not planned to resign at Johnson & Johnson yet. But a job offer from Credit Suisse came while my visa is being processed. I accepted the job offer and filed my resignation at Johnson & Johnson.
My concern is since I was still with Johnson & Johnson during the time I applied for a visa, I wasn't able to declare in my application of my new job at Credit Suisse. If the UK Embassy really does contact a background check, they might think I won't go back to Manila anymore.
But I really have to be back to Manila because Credit Suisse has been really kind to give me my 2-week planned vacation in England to be with my boyfriend and his family. Also, I really intend to stay with Credit Suisse because of the lovely compensation and benefits package they offered me.
Thank you!

Hi,
If you are applying for visit visa might be yes! They did it to my sister when she applied family visa 2 years ago. The Embassy called the company where she works.

Hi Jane2009,
Thank you for that info.

I have one question... how do you send/transfer/deposit money from the UK to a bank account in the Philippines?
What are the options? The additional rates?
I have BPI and BDO bank accounts. Which of the two has an affiliate bank in the UK?
Thank you!

Frankly, I'd avoid transfer of funds via a bank.
The charges can be high and the RoE low.
The best route IMO would be via any number of reputable remittance organisations.
Just be aware of the total costs involved in when sending money. (means RoE + All Charges)
Personally I use iRemit and have done so for many years.
Everone has their own favourite for their own circumstances.
