Hi guys.

Does Sheina need to change her passport into her married name before we start applying for the spouse visa?

Her passport expires in February next year anyway.

Can I also ask about other documents like her Baranguay documents. Do they all need to match.

Thanks in advance.

Maritess changed hers as soon as we got Married. Once Married, wives must do everything in their Married name. What Maritess did was use her maiden name as her middle name! :xxgrinning--00xx3:

In my opinion, bring her over here with her maiden name on her passport and get it changed here. Well that's what I did. Like you said, most of the documents will be in her maiden name anyway.

It is better that the documents match. It makes it easier for the Immigration to understand.

You say that her passport will expire on February next year. I think it's about time to renew it anyway. It's just 2 months till the expiration and when she applies her spouse visa, the validity of the passport should be at least 6 months.

If she wants to use her married name on the new passport, she will be required to attend a CFO seminar as a requirement in renewing the passport, since she's married to a foreigner.

It's a personal choice.
There's no problem either way.

If her passport will expire next year and she can secure a new one in her married name quickly and without fuss then why not.
Once in the UK renewal for married name means a wait of around 12 weeks as the Embassy needs to send it to Manila for processing.

If you have the time this side of visa application activities then go for it.
