Good news.
My final Balikbayan box turned up yesterday.
It was quite exciting to open it up and discover all the forgotten stuff inside.
The biggest joy was finding 6 cans of Heinz Five Beanz

Also yet more joy in finding a half full box of Bisto gravy granules

My happiness is simple
I've scoured every place in the book to find these without success.
Sorry to report that the baked beans to be found here in Davao just don't meet the mark by a country mile and the gravy is unspeakable.

Wow a treat!!
How many weeks/months did the boxes take to arrive?
I have been trying unsuccessfully to persuade my mum to send me a box for the last 16 years :bigcry:
The above are available in a few shops in the NCR, however the prices are ridiculous. With more and more Brits retiring in the Philippines every year, there could be an online business opportunity selling those types of stuff.

That box was the last one of 21 that we sent starting way back in May 2014.
It was picked up from on 3rd November 2014
We guessed it may take some time due to Christmas/New Year/Pope Visit etc.
I really wish we'd sent more dry goods and tinned foods etc
Over the months we'd also sent over shampoos/shower gels/bars of soap/Fabric conditioner etc.
Mostly Dove brand from the 99p shops.
Wish we'd have sent boxes more of these as the same brand stuff here is so much more expensive.
Yes, you're right, a darn good business opportunity :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I was speaking to a guy at Heathrow a couple of years ago who was on his way to Thailand. He regularly makes the trip and always brings over a supply of Bisto because his Thai family can't get enough of it.

Yes Fred, many folks.
Here's something I posted recently with an e-mail address.
Must admit they responded within the same day.

Alan BB Collection Driver told me yesterday that congestion got bad in Manila port back in Sept and they are still playing catch up
