Attended an NHS Open Day a week ago and they did mention they have recruitment agents in Manila. The annual salary presented isn't what Joebloggs quoted though.

I spent some time in the company of 2 Pinay nurses in Cambodia recently. One is studying for her Masters, the other has an Education degree also. Both are now teaching Koreans English in Cebu (TOEFL) as neither could get a job as a nurse in Pinas - yet both are highly intelligent! :Erm: There's an over-supply of nurses in Pinas.

On the subject of Pinoy nurses, what's happened to the nurse who purportedly poisoned a few patients and tried to "off" a number of others? Has his trial come up yet? I think he is from Manchester.

I have had some disastrous encounters with Filipino nurses and doctors here in the past..

They need a serious amount of re-training IMO...Wherever they go!
Go to a top hospital like Makati Med or Cebu Doctors', then it's probably a different matter.

They will not be registered straight away Ded. They have to go through more training so they will not be on that salary.:doh

They will be registered with the NMC straight away and able to work immediately. The recruiting hospitals won't be hiring them unless they've done the 12 months at a Philippine Hospital and have the IELTS.

You are probably thinking of Filipino Nurses already in the UK working for example as carers who have to do a conversion period to be able to register here

Royal Surrey Hospital have just had 29 with a further 50 arriving 1st May, encouraging that they are turning away from the EuroTrash :-

There has been a significant shift in the availability of foreign nurses – both on a European basis and Internationally. There are a number of suppliers
that are now experiencing issues with third party European suppliers in sourcing good quality applicants, as well experiencing a more transient
workforce who are not committing to any one employer for any period of time. Internationally the implementation of the revised NMC entry
programme has also been proving challenging. Fortunately the campaign the Trust undertook last year was before these NMC changes so we are going
to be receiving 29 Filipino nurses on the 29th January and 50 on the 1st May. However, these pressures have resulted in a diversification strategy to
ensure the continued supply of staff to meet our needs. Review meetings have been held with our suppliers and changes to process have been made
to ensure the rapid on-boarding of nurses. The Trust has also increased our supplier chain, widened our potential resources to include ex-military
personnel and ensured a planned cohesive targeted approach each and every week with current plans running to the end of 2015.

it's about a week or so in most hospitals for registered RGNs who are on full pay from day one

I said they have to go on a induction coarse first (back to the classroom) Health and saftey, Infection control etc. Otherwise they wont let you practice.:wink:. Ask the wife because you wont find it in the daily snail.:biggrin:

Yes she did that a year ago for 5 days with all the other 30 or so new staff that were joining the trust at that time then straight onto the ward shadowed for first 10 days or so
