Hi guys.

My wife tells me there is a possibility of a total black out tonight in the Philippines.

Will possibly affect Manila as well as Cebu.

Just in case anyone can't contact loved ones tonight.

There seems to be a problem with the supply of electricity.

It's time the Philippines got their electricity supplies sorted, it's 2015!:Erm:

Is there some sort of national grid connecting all the islands ? If there isn't then I'd suspect that the possibility of a blackout of the whole country is remote

We've only ever had a couple of times without power since we came.
I think a couple of hours max due to a lighting strike to our local transformer.

Still on here

Terpe I remember the first time I experienced TAMPO from a filipino woman and was so shocked at the reaction.

Now I can control my wife if she ever gets like that. Well at least I think I can lol.

My wife told me a brownout is when there is a local power outage but a blackout is like a whole region or the country.

AHH ! Just got what you mean Graham lol.

We have full-time security so they took it from just outside the beach,I think they might have disappeared if they had been caught or had a very lengthy spell inside

Or was it connected to this:-

1.86 megawatts saved in Cebu after Earth Hour

CEBU, Philippines - City officials led the observance of Earth Hour in Cebu City last night with its partner establishment, SM City Cebu, turning off 50 percent of its electrical usage.

By 9 p.m., the Visayan Electric Company reported that the demand was lower by 2.76 megawatts. By 9:30 p.m., VECO said the demand lowered by 1.86 megawatts.

Last Saturday’s total demand was 291.05 megawatts.

Echoing the call of national government agencies, Mayor Michael Rama told the hundreds to took part in the activity to make energy observation a habit.

“If we will not do it now, when? If not us, then who?” he said.

The city has taken part in the annual worldwide event for the past seven years. This year’s global theme for Earth Hour was “Change Climate Change.”

Our neighbours and family members living around here tell us it's quite rare to experience power outages longer than an hour or two.

Even during the nearby power plant scheduled maintenance we didn't get a single break in power.

Long may it continue
Thankyou Mayor
