Hello! I just wanted to remind everyone who will be submitting an application form about this (http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/Pop2Aug07.html). Good luck!

IMPORTANT ADVISORY
New Visa Applications Forms (VAFs)
From 29 October 2007 onwards, applicants wishing to apply for a UK visa must use the New Visa Application Forms (VAFs). These new forms are free of charge and will be available from 29 October by clicking on the "Application Forms & Guidance Notes" link on the left side of your screen or go to Ukvisas's website atwww.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/. You need to fill in only one of the forms depending on what type of visa you want to apply for. The guidance notes will tell you which form you should fill in and give advice about additional documents you need to submit when making your application.
Applicants are advised that the old VAFs will be accepted only until 16 November 2007.

..... In addition, the links in http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/applicationforms.aspx are not working. I think it's because
of the mistyped \. It should be a / instead. I was able to download the PDF files when I repleaced the \ to a /.

Example:
Original URL: http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/images\VAF4.pdf -- NOT WORKING!
Fix: http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/images/VAF4.pdf -- WORKING!

How to correct it manually?
Copy/paste the URL, right click on the link, then select
Copy Link Location
Paste the URL into your web browser's addressbar
It should look like http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/images%5CVAF1-GUIDANCE-NOTES.pdf
Remove the %5C after images, and put / instead.
Press enter, and the document should appear if you have Adobe Acrobat Reader!

You had lodged your application for eight months, until now you did not get your visa? I thought the longest waiting period for the processing of the visa is 3 months. If the embassy didn't tell you to lodge for a new application, I think no need for you to use the new forms. For the new visa applicant starting last nov.9,2007 they used already the new forms.

the new application form was effective for all those visa applicants starting last Nov. 9, 2007 but only until Nov. 16 they will still accept the old application form.

imho sis Iye, since u only need to submit the remaining document for ur application no need for u to submit another application form unless the UKVisa advice u to do so..

I didn't see it when I searched BEFORE I created THIS thread. Isn't new a related word to the NEW Visa Application Forms... thread? :Erm:

Thanks Sis Kimmi for the info. I don't receive any advises from the UK visa about the new forms. A woman called my house twice to inform me about the e-mail i have sent them.

To Joyce, i have lodged my application last March and received a call from them after a month that i lack one document. I should not have lodged it in the first place but what they have indicated in the checklist is different from what they say. I just followed what's in the checklist. The woman said she will wait for that, and as soon as i have it submit it personally to the visa office.

That's kind of them. I thought that once you lack a document, it's an automatic rejection!

on hsmp apps forms now, if you don't send the correct information the first time, they will not ask you for missing infomation, they will evaluate your app on the info you have supplied, and it will mostly be rejected, will they start doing this for spouse and other visa's?, maybe, it cuts down on delays, saves on admin and time, and more refusals means more money for the gov :REGamblMoney01HL1:

so get it right first time :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I'm currently reading the VAF4 Guidance Note, and came across:
(full PDF document here (http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/images/Settlement_sponsored_by_fiance.pdf))

Part 6
6.1 Settlement type
6.1.1 On what basis are you going to the UK?
Please provide details as requested.

Is that the part where I put Fiance, or the Visa type that I'm planning to get?

And then, there's:
6.2 Your sponsor
6.2.1 Sponsor’s given name(s)
As it appears in their passport or travel document. This should be their given names but not their family/surname.

If my sponsor's name is something like Peter John(mother's surname) Doe(father's surname),
shall I put Peter John?

I looked at my partner's passport, and only the father's name is in the surname field,
so not sure if I should follow that as well.

6.2.9 If your sponsor is in the UK when did they first arrive?
In DD/MM/YYYY format.
If my sponsor was born in the UK, shall I put date of birth?

kimmi

if I remember right, i tick the box for settlement on question 6.1.1

and on the sponsor's given name I only put there his name..like uve said Peter John ud better right there Peter John and do not include his surname only his name.

Okay, thanks for the info. I just opened the VAF4.pdf and saw that they are checkboxes as well. I thought I'd have to write it down.

Can I computerize my application form? Like, I'll just fill my form and print it? I'm afraid that, if I handwrite it, the spaces might not be enough :icon_lol:

kimmi
28th November 2007, 14:32
yes u can computerize it as long u havent edited parts of it..

when i submitted my application, I use the application online then i printed it out..

What do you mean you used the application online? Did you use, like a website to fill it out? I'm not quite sure what you mean....

kimmi

28th November 2007, 14:50
Okay. I guess you meant on the http://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/ApplyNow.aspx site, and not on VFS (although VFS has a link to that site). :)

kimmi

What should I select? My partner and I are planning to get a Civil Partnership, once I'm there. (This is from the visa4UK online application site)

kimmi
28th November 2007, 15:32
innit should be civil partnership?since u and ur bf planned t have civil partnership once in UK?

greenbeltboy
28th November 2007, 15:45
Well, I'm not sure, hence the post. What's the difference between proposed, and civil partnership?

Hello again. I'm now filling up VAF 4 (http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/images/VAF4.pdf), and came across something that's not in the Settlement Guidance Note (http://www.vfs-uk-ph.com/images/VAF4-GUIDANCE-NOTES.pdf).

In the VAF4.pdf, there's this part:
2.8 Where are any previous passports?

But it's only up to 2.7 in VAF4-GUIDANCE-NOTES.pdf.

My previous passport is with me, and is attached to my current one. Is that what I should put? I'm afraid that, I might sound like I'm being a smartass if I put that.

greenbeltboy
28th November 2007, 20:06
BTW, I've already mentioned the status of my old passport in 2.7, I put
"Status: Expired", after the date of issuance/expiry, and place of issue.

nigel
28th November 2007, 20:10
I thought it was ilegal to keep two passports in your name, when you renew your passport, you must give the old one back or destroy it surely? That's what I've always done anyway...so I don't know...haha

greenbeltboy
28th November 2007, 20:12
Haha! I don't know, but the old passport is stapled to my new one.. But there's a part (last cover) that was cut.

nigel
28th November 2007, 20:15
I had an old passport that was expired, I didn't bother mentioning it on the VAf4 form, I just threw it away! My girlfriend did her application today..

greenbeltboy
28th November 2007, 20:21
Did she use the new VAFs? What visa did she apply for, if you don't mind me asking?:Erm:

Hello. The sponsor doesnt need to show the British Embassy all his other passports. It is only the applicant who is being asked of that question. When i submitted my application i submitted all of my passports. Staple the last cover page of the new passport to the first cover page of the old and expired passport. Good luck on your application.

Thank you. My old passport is stapled to my new passport (hard back cover is stapled to the front cover of the old one).
