Applied for a visa - on the 11th working day we got the following email:

Dear XXXXXX XXXXXXX

Application Reference : GWFXXXXXXXX

A decision has been made on your application and your documents are being returned to the Visa Application Centre (VAC). You will be contacted again by the VAC once these documents have been received and they are ready for you to collect. If you have chosen to have your documents couriered to you, these will be despatched by the VAC once they have been received.

Please do not attend the application centre until you have been contacted by the VAC. UKVI contact details can be found at https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-outside-uk

British Embassy Manila

Getting slightly nervous now - anyone know if they send the same email to everyone or do they alter it for accepted / rejected cases??

It's 4:30 in the PI now so most likely the passport will get send out tomorrow???

From memory, I think it's just a generic response they sent out saying it's been processed. Depending on whether you paid for the courier option will depend on how quickly you get your documents back

Paid for the courier and it's only going to QC so I am hoping it will not be too long...

fingers crossed...

Thanks and yes it was a visitors visa - she just got a text message to basically say it's ready for the courier to pick it up now..

So i will find out tomorrow, i know the visitors visa is normally harder to get than others, but i am confident that it will get approved :)

She is at work tomorrow so she will make sure someone is at home to receive it....

A good thing is that 1 way flights (using my FF miles to get the flight back) have dropped in price from this weekend too :)

Fingers crossed.

Most of the visitor visa apps that get refused could have been predicted on the balance of probability.
If all the requirements get met get the visa usually gets issued.

Thanks everyone :)

I am sure it will go through, but it does not stop me from feeling nervous! Got a feeling this next 24 hours will be the longest ever!

Visa approved - now to look for flights...

Multi entry 6 month tourist visa... that was nearly the longest 24 hours of my life...

BTW I submitted a letter of invitation with bank statements etc (only the last month) - nothing was notarised for my documents as everything was done via email and i stated this in my letter of invitation...

cheers flights booked...

One way with Qatar to LHR for £390 (the price jumped up :( ) and then back using my miles from Manchester for £80 again with QR...

Booked into LHR rather than MAN as it saves a 16hour wait in Doha...

thanks all :)

Now to look at a schengen visa..

Unless the rules have changed she'll need to secure her Schengen while she's still in the Philippines.
On a max 6 month visit visa she's not eligible to apply from UK.

Yes I think you are right... might have to go to Morocco - not what I wanted, but she should be back soon I hope!
