I don't think so, nothing to be proud of at all, being a councillor of the Conservative party, that has a policy of keeping British citizens with non EU partners apart.
Congratulations Cynthia!!!:xxgrinning--00xx3:

Hi Everyone,
I never thought that as a dual citizen (Filipino-Brit) we are allowed to run for election here and in the Philippines. As I remember it right, when I swore in at the Philippine Embassy in London to retain my Philippine Citizenship, the ambassador did say that the only thing a dual citizen cannot do is to run for election unless they withdrew their dual citizenship. Am I right? Does anyone here can clarify my confusion?
So now I am thinking that it is only in the Philippines that you cannot run for election as a dual citizen?

Yes but she is against the immigration rules that the Tories bought in. :Erm:

If that's the case I doubt if David Cameron will lose any sleep over it

As far as I understand it, generally the UK has no issues with dual citizenship and holding public office.
I believe that there may be some issues to resolve when it comes to holding 'high office' (Whatever high office means) but these would be more to do with clarity of loyalty than actually preventing election.
Didn't Boris Johnson renounce his US nationality very recently?
Didn't prevent him from being Mayor of London.
I think you'll find the Philippines would have big loyalty issues though.
Lot's of other countries have complications with dual nationality and holding public office.
There's been questions raised about whether Barack Obama was born on US soil or not.
I remember questions being raised about whether Australian PM Tony Abbott holds a British Passport.
Interesting question though :xxgrinning--00xx3:

It would definitely be a problem in Xenophobic (sorry, but it's true) Philippines, but of course here in the UK, all are welcome to the trough. :NoNo:

If a Brit tried it here they would probably get bumped off after setting foot on the proverbial ladder lol

Too true mate.
You certainly don't have to cause much 'loss of face' over there to get bumped off, that's for sure. :NEW3:
