Depends on who is doing the censoring and to what extent
Its a slippery slope I feel and sooner or later these politicians will just try and use it to gag their opponents

That job is actually the responsibility of the parents. Passing the buck on to the government is a lame excuse for a lazy parent. It is easy to manage what you kid can see on the TV and internet. It's no different to the parent controlling if their kid is smoking, drinking, :Sex:, it is not the responsibility of the government.

Of course it is easy. Controlling the internet is easy, most people just can't be bothered learning how. As for the TV, it has been around for over 50 years, and my parents controlled what I watched. Bring back the Woodentops :Hellooo:

When we (and my son) were at school the rest of the kids didn't have various phones or tablets connected to the internet either.

What about when children go to friends' houses ?

There is far too much smut and filth being put out by our mass media...like that stupid and distasteful 'Book it' advert.
Why should a government permit this pandering to the lowest common denominator in society ? Why not try to give a boost to GOOD behaviour and personal achievement , while rooting out the gutter stuff ?

You can't protect kids from everything, no matter how many rules a government has. We all remember Page 3 at school, looking for 'naughty' things in biology books, porn mags at a friends house, etc. But parents can control the majority of stuff a kid sees, even today.

We certainly do not need Big Brother to decide what can and cannot see or do.

Next doors WiFi code would make no difference, nor would mobile data, the software is on the home computer or phone! :doh It helps if people educate themselves in how technology works.

As I pointed out earlier, kids have accessed the real world away from there parents for thousands of years and have seen things they shouldn't. But the parents can still control what they see and do on there own tech and premises, as has happened for thousands of years as well, so why do we need to change the rules now? :Erm:

Stop giving kids these gadgets then, or don't lend them your stuff. All the kids need are books and educational tv shows (if there's none on TV, buy DVDs!). With regards to computers, let them use it only for school work and with your supervision. It's the parents' faults if kids spend more time with adult gadgets.

You're underestimating my knowledge of tech, I can program the damn things. There is plenty of software around that prevents hardware from being used incorrectly. You are overestimating the tech knowledge that kids have, they are not hackers, they are rare.

When you use a browser, it is just programming language that allows access to certain IP and domains. This can easily be changed, and if software is hardcoded to allow only certain sites to load, then it cannot be hacked unless the kid knows how to do base code editing with machine instructions. That is not going to happen in 99.9999999% of kids.

In the 70`s my mum put a lock on the phone.. We soon found out how to hack it though without removing the lock.
Made the odd mistake though..Once woke up some miserable Australian bloke "at 2 in the morning",he said!
Mum still moaned about the bills... "Cant blame us" we said... You put a damned lock on the phone...
