It's very hands-on at Britain's biggest sandwich factory, where migrant workers help churn out THREE MILLION a week

You do know that you don't have to wear gloves? You only need to have washed your hands. Even if they wear gloves, dandruff can fall off the hair, dead skin cells from the face and arms, small body hair. Every breathe out carries spit, snot, microbes, etc. Unless people wear NBC suits, it is part of life.

When you eat homemade food or cakes, then you can bet the producer has had hands in it. Finger nail dirt, bacteria, dead skin cells.... all included :xxgrinning--00xx3:. This isn't a problem as it is the way things have been made for thousands of years.

So this is a non-story. :doh

Let's see what the situation is next week following a slump in supermarket sandwich sales, I'm sure the disposable glove suppliers will be rubbing their hands together & smiling

All home-made for me, and always has been...for the very reasons illustrated.

Takes a few minutes with my washed hands, and costs pence. :xxgrinning--00xx3:

I doubt anyone handling the food in the Phil wears gloves, apart from maybe the American franchises.

I've never read that anyone died from eating an egg mayonnaise pube sandwich :cwm24:

People DO die from eating food contaminated in this way though.

I would certainly be happier letting my immune system deal with my own germs rather than those of a stranger.

As for the Phils, cooked food only for me.... when eating out. Never had any food poisoning type problems so far.

The vast majority of people that die are from food preparation in the home. More chance of dying in a road crash in the UK than from food poisoning from a supermarket.
