Australian authoress bases her novel on life aboard a cruise ship. Says it is most definitely NOT the glamorous life it's cracked up to be :nono-1-1: ... as - among other things - male workers will very often marry American women, simply in order to obtain a visa.

So ... :anerikke: ... what's new? As with the characters portrayed in the novel ... the real life participants are "cruising for a bruising" one way or another!

Ah ... you're possibly thinking of Ricky R, Graham. Yep, like you, he's one of our Trusted Members ... though he hasn't been active on the forum for some considerable time.

Indeed, if I remember correctly, :icon_rolleyes: he and his wife (whom, I believe, also worked on cruise liners) had been planning to settle in Australia.

Ah ... you're possibly thinking of Ricky R, Graham. Yep, like you, he's one of our Trusted Members ... though he hasn't been active on the forum for some considerable time.

Indeed, if I remember correctly, :icon_rolleyes: he and his wife (whom, I believe, also worked on cruise liners) had been planning to settle in Australia.Is that the one who piloted the ships? Lived in Oman for a time I think.
