I had a Brit friend who built a house on Tondo.
I stayed with him for a long weekend, that's a story in itself.
Anyway he took me walking around Smokey Mointain one day.
It was just shocking. Upset me for a good few days. I don't think it's changed much these days.
Anyway, here's the odd thing, the people and kids I met were laughing and joking. Teasing me and to all intents appeared happy. I don't know how happy they really were but when you see their environment and how hard the little kids work it's hard to understand.
Just my memory
