According to the survey performed by consultancy Mercer, Manila is more expensive than the likes of fellow SE Asian cities, Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta.

The previous year Manila was ranked at #125.

Luanda in Angola is regarded as the costliest where Karachi is said to be the cheapest.

There's no doubting that ex-pat life can be expensive and especially so in large cities.
Most organisations/employers are very careful about ex-pat packages.

When I worked in Japan I decided to opt-out of the normal ex-pat package and go instead for a local contract based position which enabled me to agree an extended period.
