Need help about the BRP...

Hi guys, Am about to change my surname in my BRP. I've read that if you wanna change it, you need to report it within 3mons. to avoid a £1000 fine, I applied for a new passport in my married name already. Am just confused about the fine if I'll still be affected by it. As I have applied for my BRP before and all I wanna do is just change my last name.
Am a bit worried coz my passport won't be here aftter 12weeks... As I need it for the application of my new BRP.

I'm not sure how long passport renewals take now, but when I did mine, it took 5-6 weeks, so was able to make the 3 months required by UKVI to replace the BRP. I do hope you get yours sorted quickly.

Anyway, I'm not sure which form you need to use. This link https://www.gov.uk/change-circumstances-visa-brp/youre-in-the-uk-and-have-a-brp states which form you need to use although in that form, there's only options for PBS migrants. It's probably best for you to contact UKVI through phone so they can guide you accordingly. They've done a lot of changes in forms and what they do know is make it more difficult and complicated. :NoNo:

Thanks Rayna, am just worried as I've been told by our Embassy that I'll receive my passport after 12weeks :anerikke::anerikke::anerikke:

I was thinking of the same form, maybe the best thing to do is try to call them. :bigcry::bigcry::bigcry:

Done calling the UKVI and it's just purely direction to what form u need to fill in. Just direct me to the form that I mentioned above.

I think you're worrying too much.
The BRP must carry the same name as your passport.

Means that to be compliant you should update your BRP within 3 months of receipt of your updated passport.

Hi guys, sorry if it took time for me to reply to this thread as I wanna wait for the passport first.And finally it arrived! After 9 weeks of waiting as I applied during the outreached program of the Philippine embassy in in Edinburgh last july 4 and was told that the passport will be ready after 12weeks.
So what I need to do now is apply for the change of my details...

Hi Mcgregor did you do your name change by post or in person.if by post how long did it take ,if you don't mind me asking?
We just recieved Mizels new passport with my surname.Was very shocked at the cost of new BRP:cuss: .
We were planning on going away for our anniversary but postal app might scupper that idea.
