Hi all,
My name is Carl, I am 42, and live in South west England.
I have just returned from a fantastic trip to the Philippines to go to see the Banaue rice terraces and to walk and stay in the mountains.
The trip has been a year in the planning, and I have had a penfriend there for the last year who has helped me do so.
Now I have been there, and have met her, I realise she is the most fantastic, energetic, and beautiful person I have ever met.
Now here is the problem I would love to spend more time with her to get to know her to see if things could work out between us, but having read a lot of postings on here it looks as if a visitors visa for 6 months is out of the question.
Please any ideas?
And thanks for a great site.
Carl.

Hello Carl,
Glad to hear you liked the Banaue rice terraces, it sure is a great sight to see, Its been a while since someone came on the forum and spoke about this great place, you have certainly done some travelling to get thee well done.
There is nothing to stop your girl in applying for a tourist visa providing she meets the rules, we are just saying that often they are declined, but there are some successes.
It really depends on a number of factors, what your girls financial status is, the reason for the visit, and whether she has compelling reasons to return home at the end of her stay.
Only she can answer that, before she makes an application, spend some time researching what others have said, and use the search function, your question has been asked and answered hundreds of times, and many have given their opinions, we get this question nearly every week, so please don't be offended if we ask you to do some research yourself.
Best of Luck.

Hello Winfordman, :Hellooo::Hellooo: welcome to the forum.
As long as you both meet all the requirements, then applying for visit visa is of no problem although as the say that very often, many has been denied. My visit visa application before was a successful one, I got the approval the next day without interview but of course we did a lot of research before I lodged my application.
As Mr. Peter said, the topic was tackled many times, please use the search button and goodluck to both of you.

The key thing is "reason to return" - if she has a good job then there is unlikely to be a problem. If she doesn't, it can be next to impossible.
In the absence of visits from her to you, I hope you can keep in touch by phone and email and hopefully before long you will be able to visit her again.

Hi Carl and welcome to the forum. Nothing much to add really, it's all been said by Pete and other members here. It all comes down to "Reason To Return" which is assessed mainly in terms of job, (income) money in the bank and property.

welcome to the forum and its good that u enjoyed the terraces in the philippines.
i think a tourist visa would be quite a long wait for the processing and to get the approval.you should have a proper place for her to stay and u should have enough funds for her visit and i think both of u should have enough evidence that u have known each other for quite a long time already as friends.the disadvantage for this tourist visa is that if u get along with each other really well and maybe plan to be together she still has to go back to the philippines and apply for another visa again to be with you which will costs more money for the application and of course the plane fare unless u plan to get married in the philippines which you'll never know that u really want to be with her and marry her then i think that wouldn't be that bad for the application for a spouse visa which is not too hard and not that long to wait! well try to figure it out first which is best and better just in case both of u decides to settle down for good.good luck!
