The trouble is these days anyone can put there foot on the throttle and keep it there , its stopping the thing quick , thats when the problems start,

junction 28/29 MI and the junction for Barnsley on the M1, those was the best hills and the M62 coming down toward Manchester, that went on for miles and miles

:yeahthat:'s what my dad used to do ... he'd switch off the engine of his grocery van and coast downhill in neutral ... thus saving fuel. NOT that he was doing 90 mph, :nono-1-1: as he'd been driving on the quiet country roads of the 1950s of course ... as opposed to our modern motorways.

First truck I ever travelled in was an old Bristol, it had hand operated wipers and a windscreen that opened when the weather was hot, no heaters in those days Maudslay vehicles were famous for being the coldest vehicle on the road I actually used to drive one and the speed limit was 20mph for commercial vehicles then, if you had a truck that did 40mph it was considered super fast:xxgrinning--00xx3:
